Our program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with core enrichment hours between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., serving children ages 2.5 to 6 years. Children are thoughtfully grouped based on developmental readiness into Transition Preschool, Preschool, and Kindergarten Prep classrooms.
During enrichment hours, children engage in a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities designed to support early learning, creativity, and social growth. Our educators are encouraged to teach from who they are and to follow the interests of their group, which means learning experiences naturally vary from classroom to classroom and remain responsive to the children.
Children enjoy access to a variety of enriching indoor and outdoor spaces, including our herb garden, main gardens, creation stations, mud kitchen, and two large play yards, allowing learning to extend beyond the classroom through hands-on exploration and play.
A morning and afternoon snack are provided daily. Families are asked to send breakfast and lunch from home.
This program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and serves children ages 5 to 10 years. During program hours, children participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities within our outdoor classroom, located in the garden adjacent to our building.
Learning is guided by children’s interests and supported by educators who are encouraged to teach from who they are, allowing activities to vary from group to group. Experiences may include daily garden care, hands-on life science studies (such as exploring plants, bugs, and worms), nature-inspired art projects, and other enrichment opportunities that foster curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Children have access to a wide range of outdoor learning and play spaces, including our main gardens, big rock garden, wildflower garden, mud kitchen and sand pit, and two large play yards, providing ample opportunities for exploration, movement, and discovery.
A morning and afternoon snack are provided each day. Families are asked to send breakfast and lunch from home.
At Flora and Fauna we strive to provide excellent care by maintaining smaller Class Sizes.
Transition Preschool and Preschool aged children (2.5 - 3.5/4 years) will be in a classroom with a ratio of 8 children to 1 teacher with a max group size of 16.
Pre-K aged children (3.5/4-6 years) will be in a classroom with a ratio of 10 children to 1 teacher or mentor with a max group size of 20.
School aged children (5-10 years) will be in an outdoor classroom with a ratio of 15 children to 1 teacher with a max group size of 25.
These ratios may fluctuate given individual children’s needs for smaller or larger social groups (as we can accommodate), child/staff absences, program needs, and more, but will never exceed 10 children per one teacher for preschool/pre-k aged children. Mixed age groups in the first and last hour of the day will be kept to a max group size of 14 to 20 with two teachers dependent on enrollment..
